Project Bags for Charity

Project Bags for Charity

A new initiative I have recently introduced is Project Bags for Charity. All the feel goods guaranteed here! Buy a gorgeous project bag and support a charity at the same time.

The idea came to me some time ago but for various reasons I didn't go ahead with it. So I sat on the idea and thought more about it when suddenly a light bulb went off and the programme was launched.

For every charity bag sold, a percentage of the sale gets donated to charity in the name of the buyer. Each bag has it's own charity associated with it.

So how did this come about? It started with excess bags from my Project Bag of the Month Club. Due to the nature of the club, each month the number of club members varies. Sometimes I have a lot of bags left over, sometimes I sell out. I don't like to repeat the fabrics I use in the club bags so I found myself with a lot of excess bags. I used to list them in my shop when I got around to it. But because they were once exclusive to the club members, I wanted them to be a little different or special. That's when I came up with the idea of using them as charity bags. Now they are not just another bag, but something special. They are helping others.

I'm sure most of us would love to donate more and always say I will do it later. But how many of us actually take the time to do it? I know when life is busy we all have good intentions, but who often takes the time to google the charities page, and go through the time it takes to actually donate. I'm sure we would all love to, but there are only so many hours in day.

So let me take that hassle away for you. Let me donate on your behalf. You still get all the good feelings knowing that in one tiny way you are making an impact. The bonus is you also get a gorgeous project bag to hold your precious projects safe.

Once I decided I was going to use the fabric for charity bags, I then thought how fun it would be to try and match the fabric of each bag to a charity. The first one I matched was the yellow floral fabric with daffodils on it to the Cancer Council of Australia.  The most recognisable icon for this charity is the daffodil. So it was a perfect fit. August also saw their well known fundraising campaign, Daffodil Day.

Like many people, my family has been touched by cancer. I have lost both my in laws, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, friends...too many to list. So this one is special to me and why I chose this as the first charity to kick off this initiative.

Support a great charity while keeping your stitching projects neat and tidy. These bags are still available to purchase. $5 from the sale of each bag gets donated to the Cancer Council of Australia. If you are in Australia, you will get a receipt for tax purposes.

I have also added some daffodil themed floss drops and a daffodil needle minder, which you can purchase as a bundle and save 10%.

If you're not into daffodils or florals, you can still donate to the charity should you wish without having to purchase a thing. Head over here to donate - https://www.daffodilday.com.au/fundraisers/narellefasulo

Thank you for your support.

Be sure to keep an eye on my shop so you don't miss out on the next round of charity bags.

Until next time, have a great day and happy stitching.

Take care, Narelle xx
